About Us

From the beginning, Greenpoint Community Yoga’s goal has been to offer accessible classes that bring neighbors together.

GCY was founded in 2024 by Julia Elia, a local yoga teacher and North Brooklyn Angels volunteer. Julia felt there could be a way to support the Angels’ mission using the principles of yoga – embodied practice, service for the benefit of all, and togetherness.

Jenny Narod, GCY’s co-lead, joined Julia in late 2024 and has been instrumental in growing the collective. Using her background in marketing, Jenny spreads the word about this community and expands our partnerships.

GCY keeps growing! We’ve raised nearly $10k for the North Brooklyn Angels. Our membership is now more than 500 neighbors.

GCY’s story is one of people pitching-in to help. Teachers donating their time, designers donating their website-making skills, photographers donating photo-shoots, local restaurants donating food & tea – all of this makes GCY’s story what it is.
